Championing the teams behind the designs, the People Awards is unique in the world of automotive design
Car Design News is delighted to announce the launch of its first ever awards programme – the People Awards. Why the People Awards? While many automotive awards focus on the cars, Car Design News wanted to celebrate the design teams behind the end product. And not just the design directors, but creative talent at every level of the design process: from the CMF team to the UX designers and everyone in-between.
The People Awards champions not only the craft of automotive design but the cross-disciplinary teamwork that produces mould-breaking cars.
Ultimately, these awards are for you, the designers. So we asked leading industry figures which aspects of design they would like to see recognised, alongside the well-established disciplines such as exterior and interior design. The answers we got reflected not only the changing nature of design, but the shifts in societal values too. To that end, Volvo has partnered with CDN for the ‘Equality by Design’ award. Head of Interior Design Lisa Reeves explains the rationale and criteria for the award in the video below.
Car Design News also wanted to recognise experiential design, UX, branding and narrative design and a great deal more. Our expert judging panel will naturally reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the categories too. You find out more about the categories, the judges and how to enter here.
We are tremendously excited to launch the first Car Design News People Awards and we hope to see you at the gala dinner in London on 7 December.
