The IM Motors Airo, Zeekr 001 and Chery Antee X are among the standout designs at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show

IM Motors Airo
IM Motors has teamed up with the London architecture firm Heatherwick Studios to produce the Airo – a concept car that has been designed to clean the air as it runs. The glass box looks to include a flexible layout of relaxing arm chairs that can be adjusted to create a sociable space, while the exterior is clad in a material that resembles layered clay.
Zeekr 001
Yet another name under the Geely brand, Zeekr has taken the wraps off its 001 – a long-range pure electric shooting brake. It was created at the Geely Design studio in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Chery Antee X
An backlit grille area at the front and a wild spoiler at the rear makes the Chery Antee X stand out from the crowd at Shanghai.
Toyota bZ4X Concept
It’s a mouthful, and there’s also lots to look at – the Toyota bZ4X Concept is the first model to provide a glimpse into the company’s plans for a forthcoming range of all-electric models.
Zhiji L7
The result of a collaboration between SAIC and Alibaba, the Zhiji L7 sedan is another all-electric car with a sporty and luxury feel.
Audi A6 e-tron concept
Leveraging its PPE platform, Audi’s A6 e-tron concept is a clean sedan that looks far more reserved that the company’s recently launched e-tron GT.
Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQB
Mercedes positioned its EQS saloon centre stage at Shanghai, featuring the MBUX Hyperscreen. The company also showcased a variant of its EQB SUV that has been developed specifically for China, and the new long wheelbase version of its C-Class.
Hengchi
Hengchi has made a big splash at this year’s Shanghai show with several new and not quite new models on its stand. The company is backed by Evergrande Group – one of China’s largest real estate companies.
Wuling Hongguang Mini EV
It’s not all slick sedans and giant SUVs. This dinky little cabriolet by Wuling is designed for city driving, and is a roofless version of the regular model that is made as part of a joint venture between Wuling, GM and SAIC.
Volkswagen ID6
The third car in VW’s ID line-up, the ID6 looks like a larger version of the ID3, with a similar interior too.
Roewe Yuejing
Potentially one of the largest SUVs at the show, the Roewe Yuejing concept includes a distinctive front end marked by a paper fan-like grille that spreads out from one side to the other.
Ora Lightning Cat
A drip of gold running down the sides and a enormously blingy interior, the Ora Lightning Cat isn’t for those consumers that are looking for some subtly in life. Ora is owned by Great Wall Motors.
Xpeng P5
The P5 is the third model to feature in Xpeng’s rapidly-growing portfolio, now sitting alongside the previously launched G3 and P7. This latest model seems to sit smack in the middle of the two as a crossover.
