After a short break from car design, Luc Donckerwolke is back at Hyundai to oversee design-related communications
Hyundai has appointed Luc Donckerwolke as executive vice president and chief creative officer (CCO). He will take lead on communications for all design-related topics, for example the company’s dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) line-up brand Ioniq, and will look to open up collaborations on future mobility. He will be located at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center in Germany.
Donckerwolke was previously chief design officer at Hyundai, overseeing the design teams at the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands. He joined the Hyundai Group back in 2016, but resigned in April 2020 to take care of personal matters.
“It is with great honor and pride that I start this second chapter at Hyundai Motor Group to consolidate creativity,” Donckerwolke says. ”In collaboration with design teams, I will communicate diversity and richness of Group brands’ design, which is not only technologically dynamic but also customer-centric.”
Donckerwolke will work closely with SangYup Lee, senior vice president and head of Hyundai Global Design Center and Genesis Global Design, as well as Karim Habib, senior vice president and head of Kia Global Design.
